Senior HR Business Partner - Permanent
Wokingham Borough Council have a fantastic opportunity available, for a highly motivated and experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join our HR and OD team and play a key role in our HR Services across the council.

As the Senior HR Business Partner, you will lead our newly formed Business Partnering function. The team have specific responsibility to lead service delivery aligned to the corporate delivery plan for their own profession and consists of HR Business Partnering, Resourcing and HR Systems and Data. Forming part of the HR and OD management you will work closely with your team to ensure that we are truly partnering our services across all elements of HR.
Key responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to the HR Business Partnering Team, acts as a member of the HR Leadership Team, and supports the aim of ensuring excellent customer experience is delivered across all services areas
- Work collaboratively with managers across the council at both strategic and operational level, to contribute to the formulation of people-related plans, initiatives and actions needed to deliver successful outcomes for projects, goals and operational effectiveness.
- To build, maintain and model strong working relationships with colleagues across the HR function, and in turn work collaboratively with them to develop HR service plans, strategies, initiatives and projects, and to build and maintain the reputation of HR.
- To provide input and/or support for HR colleagues in all areas of HR, including policy development, pay & reward, recruitment, retention, data and employee relations and HR operations.
- To continuously embed and enhance the Business Partnering model, working across the HRBP team to share ideas and roll out new working practices, consulting with internal customers, seeking feedback and acting on that feedback where necessary
- To support and coach managers in championing change and improvement initiatives which support the Corporate Delivery Plan and People Strategy and lead to improved efficiency in service delivery, ultimately for residents, customers and colleagues.
- To ensure the effective provision of employee relations advice to managers, ensuring legal compliance and fair and consistent management decisions, supporting the prompt resolution of colleague issues and investigations.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree-level, equivalent relevant professional qualifications, or expertise
- An in-depth knowledge and understanding of UK employment law
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing a business partnering team w
- An expert understanding of generalist HR practice, sufficient to resolve complex casework
- Experience of working within a Childrens or Adult Social Care environment would be advantageous.
Please note this is a hybrid role with home working and travel to Shute End, Wokingham as and when required.
