We have an excellent opportunity available for a Recruitment & Retention Specialist – Adult Social Care to join our Recruitment Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a Full-Time, 2 Year Fixed Term Contract.
As the Recruitment & Retention Specialist – Adult Social Care, you will lead and deliver targeted recruitment and retention initiatives across Adult Social Care, ensuring alignment with service priorities, workforce strategy and statutory responsibilities.
You will design and implement recruitment campaigns tailored to ASC roles, collaborating with managers to identify workforce gaps and develop responsible recruitment plans. This will include working closely with teams across HR and Communications to develop and maintain a strong online and social media presence and directly communicating with potential candidates as the professional face of Adult Social Care.

Key responsibilities:
- Strategic Recruitment Delivery – Design and implement recruitment campaigns tailored to Adult Social Care roles.
- Retention and Workforce Development – Support the Adult Social Care Workforce Board and associated workstreams, promoting ASC as a career of choice through outreach to schools, colleges and community partners.
- Matrix Collaboration – Attend meetings and contribute to workforce planning discussions, administratively manage the recruitment pipeline, working closely with HR colleagues to ensure compliance with recruitment policy and safer recruitment practices.
- To be responsible for the organisation of interviews and recruitment events, including processing of follow-up paperwork and forms.
- To ensure effective induction of new workers, working closely with HR colleagues to ensure a seamless onboarding process.
- Effective management of the ATS, ensuring the full recruitment lifecycle is documented including the appropriate use of sensitive data.
Candidate requirements:
- 5 GCSE level (A*-C) to include English and Maths, or equivalent (or appropriate experience).
- Experience in recruitment within a complex, multiagency environment.
- Understanding of Adult Social Care workforce challenges and statutory context.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and safer recruitment principles.
- A Profession qualification such as CIPD level 5 or equivalent would be highly desirable.

Whilst this is a fixed term contract appointment, for anyone already employed by Wokingham Borough Council this would be classed as a secondment if successful.
