An exciting internal vacancy has become available within the Community Safety Team to help lead Wokingham's ambitions to reduce crime and increase safety for local residents.

The role of Community Safety Officer will co-ordinate and lead on the implementation of the Council’s work across the Community Safety agenda. The role will drive a programme of work agreed by the Community Safety Partnership, in partnership with the Community Safety Manager and team, as set out in the Community Safety and Serious Violence Strategy.

Workstreams will cover the delivery of the following areas: Antisocial Behaviour, Hate Crime, Domestic Abuse, Prevent, Serious Violent Crime & Exploitation, Substance Misuse and Reducing Reoffending.  

The successful candidate will be experienced in a range of strategic and operational settings, familiar with the complexities of the criminal justice system, and be able to demonstrate a desire to achieve change, often at pace.

It is essential the successful candidate has a working and up-to-date knowledge of Prevent, experience of leading Chanel Panel and able to orientate to the council's duty to apply Martyn's Law and other legislative changes.
