Be part of something new and exciting with us in Wokingham Children's Services.

We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Social Worker within our newly remodelled Family Help Service - an innovative, relationship-focused model designed to achieve the very best outcomes for children and families.

While we are advertising a single opportunity, this is part of a wider growth journey within the service, and we are keen to meet talented social workers ready to make a difference.

About the Role

Working within our Family Help Pods, you will deliver high-quality, relationship-based social work that safeguards children and supports families to create meaningful, lasting change.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, multi-agency environment, co-producing plans with families and partners to improve outcomes and reduce risk.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver child-centred, relational social work practice
  • Undertake direct work with children and families to promote safety and wellbeing
  • Work alongside partners to co-produce purposeful plans for change
  • Produce clear, high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation
  • Take part in safeguarding meetings, group supervision, and reflective practice
  • Stay up to date with legislation, policy, and best practice.

About You & the skills you’ll bring with you:

We’re looking for passionate and committed Social Workers who share our values and ambition. You will also bring the following:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA/MSc).
  • Experience working with children and families as a Social Worker.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build meaningful relationships.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity & inclusion.
  • A passion for relationship-based and systemic practice.
  • A drive to learn, reflect, and continuously improve.

Why Join Our Family Help Service?

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a newly developed service built on relational and systemic principles, placing families at the centre of decision-making.

You’ll benefit from:

  • A supportive pod structure with strong team identity
  • Reflective supervision and shared learning
  • Opportunities to influence and shape a growing service
  • Hybrid working from Shute End and home

A Different Kind of Interview Experience

We want you to experience our culture at Wokingham, not just hear about it.

Alongside the formal interview, we will offer opportunities to:

  • Join us on a Recruitment call to hear more about our Children's Services model
  • Meet members of our Senior Leadership Team
  • Take a tour of our re-designed workspace
  • Have informal conversations with potential future colleagues

This is your chance to get a real feel for who we are and how we work.

Key Dates

  • Closing date: Sunday 28th June 2026, 11pm
